Our Mission
The Airpower Foundation was founded by the nation's oldest military support organization, The Fort Worth Airpower Council, to be a non-profit dedicated to supporting active duty, reserve and National Guard families. The Foundation also supports projects for children who have lost a parent in the war, wounded warriors and veterans.

Thanks USA Scholarships
In 2005, Virginia sisters Rachel and Kelsi (then ages 10 and 8) saw first-hand the hardships faced by a military family when a friend's father returned from Iraq severely injured. In appreciation of the family's sacrifice, the sisters launched ThanksUSA the following year. Through its scholarship program, it empowers military families -- children and spouses of military personnel -- to expand their education and skills through college, technical school, or vocational training programs. www.thanksusa.org
Our Military Kids
Children of National Guard and Reserve service members from the NAS FW JRP sacrifice time with their beloved military parents just like all military children. However, children of National Guard and Reserve service members do not have access to the same resources available on most military installations. These families are geographically dispersed throughout the country, and often live too far from military installations to access available support services.
Many National Guard and Reserve families experience a loss of income during deployments as a result of transition from their civilian jobs to their military positions. The loss of income and lack of available local resources during deployments creates a gap in support services that is detrimental to military families. In addition, military children often experience academic challenges during the stressful period that their military parent is deployed, often resulting in a need for academic tutoring.
Our Military Kids fills these gaps with a simple grant program that pays for children's activities. Eligible families apply for a grant, and within days of receiving the application in the Our Military Kids office, a packet is sent to the child thanking them for their service to our country and notifying them of the award. The check to pay for the activity is sent directly to the service provider. www.ourmilitarykids.org
Snowball Express
Every day, many of the men and women in the armed forces return to their families and their civilian lives. But not every one will have that chance, and the families left behind are forever changed. Snowball Express remembers those fallen heroes who will never return, and honors the supreme sacrifice their families have made. Snowball Express serves the children who will never be reunited with their mom or dad.
Parents of children of the fallen often tell us that their child is reserved, withdrawn or unwilling to talk about their loss. Participating in Snowball Express changes that, making each child feel special and giving them an opportunity to share their feelings about losing someone so precious.
Using a volunteer team, Snowball Express creates events to connect the children and surviving spouses of the fallen with others going through the same experience. The children who attend our annual event walk away knowing they are not alone, and that we honor the sacrifice their parent made while serving our country. Children often return year after year to reunite with the friends they have made through Snowball Express. www.snowballexpress.org
